Paper boats

The rain crashes to the ground, turning the world into one big blur. There are no clear colors, shapes or objects. It's all hazy, like the world when one wakes up from deep sleep. Through the heaven's tears, little kids run. They splash puddles of muddy water, they enjoy the swings and run around, hand in hand. They are drenched, the cold wind freezing their tiny bodies. And yet, they are so happy, so innocent.

When did we turn into unhappy adults? Who said being an adult meant one had to only smile for a camera?

We are often so busy being the stereotypical adult, that we forget what it is to love, laugh and have fun.

However, this doesn't mean you have to be immature or childish. You don't need to be silly and talk like a five year old. Using those ridiculous words like wuv, sworry or shweet doesn't make you a kid. It makes you childish.

To be childlike is a different story. It's about doing the things you enjoyed doing as a child. Sail a paper boat, dance in the rain or do the hokey pokey. Life is too short to be boring or serious.

Remember how we dreamed of being adults? How we pretended to be doctors or teachers because we thought those were cool jobs? Remember all the tantrums we threw because our parents didn't let us do adult things?

When I was a kid, I never knew sites like Facebook existed. I never owned or used a mobile phone. I didn't know how babies are made. We were so innocent, we were such children.

Today, we have been exposed to the world, to the dark side, to the naked flesh and intoxicating drinks. We often feel we have come too far to turn back and be a kid again, even though just a decade ago, we ran around in our underwear. We worry what people will think or say. And so we let rainy days dampen our moods. We worry about messing up our outfits or makeup. We don't walk around without an umbrella.

And yet, there will be a day when you feel free to dance in the rain. To sail paper boats and look for rainbows. Those days remind us that, regardless of our age, we will always be a kid; that no matter how overworked and stressed out we are, there will always be a part of us that would find time to be a kid again.
